About Hawthorne Seniors Care Community
Life at Hawthorne Seniors Care Community feels grounded and full of purpose, where each day is shaped by genuine care, familiar faces, and the comfort of knowing support is always close by. Located at 2111 Hawthorne Ave in Port Coquitlam, BC, Hawthorne Seniors Care Community is a well-established not-for-profit campus of care operated by the Port Coquitlam Senior Citizens’ Housing Society, an organization that has been serving seniors in the Tri-Cities region since 1958.
Living Options & Care Levels
Hawthorne offers two primary levels of care, each thoughtfully designed to meet seniors where they are in their journey.
Assisted Living is available through Hawthorne Tower, which provides 70 private suites for seniors who value their independence but benefit from having support available. Residents in assisted living enjoy their own personal space along with access to meals, housekeeping, laundry services, and personal support as needed. It is a setting that encourages autonomy while ensuring no one has to manage on their own.
Long-Term Care is provided through two distinct settings on campus. Hawthorne Lodge serves individuals with complex health needs who require around-the-clock supervision and hands-on support. The Lodge is staffed and equipped to care for seniors whose medical or personal care requirements are significant and ongoing. The Cottages offer a different long-term care experience, providing a secure and home-like environment specifically designed for independently mobile individuals living with dementia or other psychogeriatric conditions. The Cottages were the first of their kind in the Lower Mainland, reflecting Hawthorne’s long history of thoughtful innovation in senior care. Together, the Lodge and the Cottages offer 131 long-term care beds across the campus. All programs and services at Hawthorne are publicly funded through contracts with Fraser Health Authority.
What You’ll Love About Living Here
Daily life at Hawthorne is shaped by services that take the burden of household tasks off residents’ plates so they can focus on what matters most to them. Housekeeping is provided regularly, meaning residents live in clean, comfortable surroundings without having to manage it themselves. Laundry and dry cleaning services mean one less thing to think about, freeing up time and energy for more enjoyable pursuits.
For those who find meaning in faith and community, worship services are available, offering a space for spiritual connection and reflection without the need to travel. Residents who want to give back or stay engaged with a broader sense of purpose can explore volunteer opportunities, which bring a sense of contribution and belonging to everyday life. These amenities are not just conveniences. They are part of what makes Hawthorne feel like a real community rather than simply a place to live.
Why Residents Choose Hawthorne Seniors Care Community
Families and residents choose Hawthorne because of the trust that has been built over more than six decades of service. When a loved one moves into a community that has been caring for seniors since 1958, there is a reassurance that comes with that track record. Hawthorne is not driven by profit. As a not-for-profit organization, every decision is made with residents and their well-being at the center.
The fact that all programs are funded through Fraser Health Authority also provides families with a layer of accountability and consistency. Residents are not navigating care on their own. They are supported by dedicated teams who maintain a safe and welcoming environment every single day. For adult children seeking peace of mind and for seniors who want to feel genuinely at home, Hawthorne offers the kind of dependable, values-driven care that holds up over time. The community also includes a Family Council, reflecting Hawthorne’s commitment to keeping families informed and involved in the life of their loved ones.
