FindSeniorPlaces.com started with two people and one simple frustration: there was no easy way for Canadian families to actually understand their senior living options. Not a sales pitch. Not a lead form. Just clear, honest information in one place.
We’re Lisa and Ian, and this is our project. We’re not a call centre disguised as a directory, and we’re not backed by a placement agency that gets paid when you pick a home. We built this because when our own families started asking these questions, we couldn’t find a resource that answered them without an agenda attached.
This site is for two kinds of people, and honestly, most days it’s for both at once.
Seniors who are thinking ahead about what their next home should look like, and want to understand what independence, care, and community actually mean in practice, not just in a brochure.
Adult children who’ve suddenly become the person responsible for figuring this out for a parent, often while juggling their own job, their own kids, and a fair amount of guilt about not knowing where to start.
Canada’s senior population is growing fast, and the number of families trying to navigate retirement homes, assisted living, and specialized care is growing with it. Most of the directories built to help with that are either outdated, cluttered with paid placements, or designed to funnel you toward a phone call before you’ve even figured out what questions you should be asking.
We wanted something different. A place where the information comes first and the sales pressure doesn’t exist at all.
We won’t call you repeatedly after you look up a listing. We won’t push you toward a “free consultation” that’s really a sales call. We won’t tell you which home is “the best fit” for your family, because we don’t know your family, and anyone who claims to after a five-minute phone call is guessing. What we’ll do is put the information in front of you and get out of the way.
We don’t take payment to move a listing higher in search results, and we’re not affiliated with any senior living provider. If a home shows up near the top when you search, it’s because it matched what you were looking for, not because someone paid for the placement.
We also try to keep the experience simple. Care types, amenities, location, and contact details are laid out the same way across every listing, so comparing two homes doesn’t mean hunting through inconsistent pages to find the information you need.
None of this is abstract to us. A listing on this site isn’t just a data entry. It’s someone’s next home, and often it’s a decision a family is making during one of the harder stretches of their life. We try to build accordingly.
We’re a small team, which means we’re realistic about what that means. We’re constantly adding listings, updating details, and expanding to new cities, but senior living information changes quickly, licensing changes, homes open and close, availability shifts. Treat what you find here as a strong starting point, and always confirm details directly with a community before making a decision.
FindSeniorPlaces.com is built by IA Creative, a small studio that works on projects meant to actually help people. If you’re a developer, content creator, health professional, or organization working on something in this space and think there’s a reason to collaborate, we’re open to hearing about it.
