Life at Fudger House feels grounded, dignified, and full of genuine connection. Residents are supported by a team that takes person-centred care seriously, in a place where culture, identity, and individuality are celebrated rather than overlooked. Fudger House Long-Term Care Home, located at 439 Sherbourne Street in the heart of downtown Toronto, is one of ten City of Toronto-operated long-term care homes and serves 228 residents within a safe, welcoming, and professionally managed community.
Living Options & Care Levels
Fudger House offers three distinct types of care, each designed to meet residents and families at different stages of the caregiving journey.
Long-Term Care is the foundation of what Fudger House provides. This is permanent, full-time care for individuals who can no longer safely live at home and require ongoing support with daily living, health management, and overall well-being. Residents have access to an inter-professional care team that includes doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation assistants, dietitians, social workers, and spiritual care practitioners. The team works collaboratively to provide care that respects each resident’s health needs, personal background, and preferences.
Respite Care is available through a short-stay admission program that gives family caregivers a temporary break from their caregiving responsibilities. Stays can be up to 60 continuous days, with a maximum of 90 days per year. During this time, the individual receives the same quality of care provided to permanent residents, in a safe and supportive setting.
Palliative Care is also offered at Fudger House, providing compassionate, comfort-focused support for residents at the end of life. This type of care prioritizes comfort, dignity, and emotional support for both the individual and their loved ones during a deeply personal time.
What You’ll Love About Living Here

Mealtimes are a meaningful part of the daily rhythm, with dining rooms that offer a sociable setting where residents can share a meal and conversation. The home has identified enhancing the dining experience as an ongoing priority, reflecting a genuine commitment to making this part of the day enjoyable rather than routine.

For those who value physical activity and recreation, the presence of a swimming pool offers a wonderful opportunity to stay active and engaged in a way that is both enjoyable and supportive of overall health.
Worship services are available for residents who find meaning and comfort in spiritual practice, ensuring that faith and tradition remain part of life regardless of a resident’s background or beliefs. Parking is available on site, making it easy for family members and visitors to come and go without added stress. The home also features an outdoor courtyard and green space where residents can enjoy fresh air and a change of scenery without leaving the property.
